Babysitting

So, we went to pay our babysitter (my cousin) last night after attending our ward's sweetheart ball. They wouldn't let us pay them, but it made me think about what we would've paid. We rarely get babysitter's for the girls because family typically babysits for us. The few times we have had a babysitter, I never know if I'm over or under paying. So, I want some feedback. What are the going babysitting rates these days? If you hire babysitters, what do you typically pay. If you babysit, what do you expect to be paid? I want to make sure that I pay comparable rates to everyone else.

We do $3 per hour per kid. That's what I've heard is the going rate.

This is what I was wondering. I guess I didn't pay enough for our babysitter for the dance last week! We paid her $2 per kid per hour. Maybe I'll raise it the next time, I don't want to be a bad "employer"! LOL I think if you have family around that can do it you're lucky!!

With 2 I typically pay around $5.50-$6.00 an hour. I kind of vary it up. If it is just under $20, I will typically just give them $20 because I am usually too lazy to get change!

My sister Rachel called Aubrey- and asked her if for 3 hours 2 kids- if $15 dollars was a rip off- and Aubrey said no i would have expected 15ish dollars! so i think the going expected rate from Aubrey who is a FAMOUS babysitter is about $2.50-$3 a kid per hour! When Will and I have talked about it- we thought probably minimum wage- and then plus a dollar a kid-- but thats a lot!! and probably not expected in young teens!! haha so there ya go!

mum, I babysit for free AND I will feed them a liquid meal, I appreciate if mum sends extra knickers if it is a girl so I can keep the ones she wears
